CLUB HISTORY
E.I.S.R. has been around since 2003. So therefore, the history of the club is brief. It all started with some ideas
from a few men getting together on the weekend at Bobby's shop. Most of the time there was a car being worked on and everybody
there were mechanics, or at least thought they were. The subject came up about the cruise-ins and car shows around the area.
Some of the guys knew about car clubs in Madison Heights, Lynchburg and elsewhere. A couple of months later, the decision
was made to put together a car club. Initially it was five members and they didn't have cars that were ready for the road
or show quality. More members came aboard and everybody went to work on their cars during the winter of 2003. Spring was around
the corner and the club had to plan events for the upcoming year. The first order of business was to choose a name for the
club. By popular vote the name Ebony & Ivory Street Riders was chosen. This name was chosen because of the general location
of the original members. Everyone was welcome to join and every car had to be street legal. Next on the agenda was to choose
officers. Mike Cabbell was voted in as the first President. Bobby Cabbell became the President the following year and holds
that position presently. Thomas Vaughan held the office of Vice Pres. until 2007, then Victor Dunning was voted in. Louis
Allen has held the office of Treasurer/Secretary since 2004. Brenda Barnett was voted in as the Asst. Treasurer/Secretary
in 2008. Melvin "Judge" Ward and Joe Gaines, the club Chaplain, have been board members since 2004. In the spring
of 2004 members began to cruise around the local area shows, cruise-ins and other organized benefits to help others raise
money for their cause and make their shows a success. E.I.S.R. hosted its first show in July of 2004 at Ebony & Ivory
Field in Roseland VA. Since then it has become an annual event, usually the first weekend in July. From this point on the
club has continued to grow. The first female members came aboard in 2007. As the years went by E.I.S.R. attended some great
car shows, Nelson and Amherst Parades, Lynchburg Steels Relay For Life Show, Amherst Chamber of Commerce, and other various
shows in Waynesboro, Charlottesville, Bedford, Roanoke, and Appomattox, just to name a few. E.I.S.R. gives back to the community
with donations to organizations such as the Sheriff Dept., Fire Dept., Rescue Squad and other deserving citizens or organizations.
Members from the before mentioned departments and organizations are invited to the E.I.S.R. Annual Banquet to accept the donation
and dinner. The comradery and friendships between members, show hosts, and show participants is priceless. Look for Ebony
& Ivory Street Riders cruising your neighborhood this summer or go to the website, www.ebonyivorystreetriders.com.
